I found this in ES magazine’s Christmas gift guide last year. Normally I hate magazine gift guides, because they seem to think an 80-quid pair of socks constitutes a stocking filler and that showing you pictures of three-grand watches is somehow helpful. But this I really liked, and at £37.50 (£57 framed), it’s the kind of thing you might conceivably buy for someone.
It works like this: you email a photo of your recipient’s house (or wedding venue, etc) to illustrator Wendy Harrison, and three weeks later she’ll send you a quirky, hand-drawn picture, based on what you sent. The result is charming, personal and stays just the right side of twee. Order one now and you should receive it in time for Mother’s Day.
